Physio for Seniors in Victoria, BC | Healthy Aging

"Well you're just getting older and that's the way things will be!" At Apollo, we think that's bullshit. Your age doesn't define you or what you are capable of. You don't just need somebody to treat your pain. You need somebody that understands the unique challenges of aging. Someone that won't treat you like you are frail and about to break at any moment. Banded clamshells and walking aren't enough. You deserve better.

At Apollo, we get it. We’ve worked with adults of all ages — from grandparents who want to keep up with their grandkids to lifelong gym-goers who don’t plan on slowing down. Our 5-stage rehab and performance system is built for people who want to age well, move well, and keep living life on their terms.

We'll help you move better, recover faster, and help you stay strong and independent. That means no more "I'm too old for that."

How traditional physio falls short:

  • Treating all older individuals as frail, delicate, or that they need to protected from things that are physically challenging.

  • Focus only on pain, not on progressively helping you get back/keep your independence.

  • No emphasis on maintaining strength, power, muscle mass, and aerobic fitness.

  • Generic exercises that are given to everybody no matter their age or stage.

Our Approach to Healthy Aging

Recover

Our main focus in the initial stage is to get your pain under control and get you back to living your life. That means personalized daily drills to help you move more efficiently, decrease pain, and improve sleep.

This is also where we start getting you comfortable with the movement patterns we will be utilizing throughout your plan, and begin to work on balance and coordination.

Rebuild

In the Rebuild phases, we focus on building muscle and strength in the areas you need it most.

We use loaded exercises with the goal of building/maintaining muscle mass and bone density.

In this phase, we also start to introduce power focused movements (jumping, landing, and stepping/lunging quickly) and focused conditioning based on our assessments.

Perform

Ramping up the intensity - both in terms of weight we are using for exercises and heart rate - is the goal in the Perform phase.

Power exercises start to become more of a mainstay in your program in this phase.

If your goal is to maintain your bone density and strength as you age, this is the phase where you will earn it.

  • Targeted fall prevention programs that incorporate balance, reaction, and power.

  • Strength and mobility programs designed for aging and older adults.

  • Personalized plans, no cookie cutter programs.

  • Education on sleep, nutrition, and exercise that you can take with you for the rest of your life.

Your path to performing pain-free

1

Book an Initial Assessment

At the Initial Assessment we will go through your injury background, symptoms, and goals. This is followed by a comprehensive physical exam looking through full body mobility, strength, balance, and more.

2

Execute the Plan

Your plan will consist of some combination of 1-on-1 sessions, small group rehab gyms, and personalized rehab programming that progresses with you through your plan of care.

We have a fully stocked gym with everthing that we need to ensure you build confidence to continue strength training on your own for years to come.

3

Return to Performance

Live your life with confidence that you can take on anything that it throws your way.

Many of our clients not only get back to activities they thought they would never enjoy again, they are confident enough to start new ones that before seemed impossible (pickleball, running, hiking, powerlifting).
